HG Australia x biglittlethings.
Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is a complication of pregnancy in which women experience extreme levels of nausea and vomiting. Unlike regular ‘morning sickness’.
HG is a far more severe condition affecting 2% of pregnant women and can be potentially life threatening if left untreated. Living with severe levels of nausea and vomiting has a profoundly negative impact on a person’s health and wellbeing, both physically and mentally.
There is still widespread ignorance of HG and lack of understanding for women with the condition. Stigma surrounds the use of medication in pregnancy - a vital option for many sufferers - leading to guilt, shame and prolonged physical suffering for women who are refused treatment.
To this day there are no known causes of hyperemesis gravidarum, only theories with research being conducted thanks to HER Foundation to help link this condition to a cause.
I was diagnosed with HG when I was 14 weeks pregnant after suffering from severe symptoms from 4 weeks. I had HG for the entire duration of my pregnancy & during the darkest of times what helped me was the support from fellow mums who were suffering or had survived HG.
And HGA are doing just that - raising awareness, improving care within australia & making sure if you are suffering through HG you know you have the support & resources that you need.
We want to help raise awareness & support HGA so biglittlethings will be donating 5% of our sales to HGA. Every time you gift yourself or someone special you are also helping us gift much needed funds to HGA.
